Easy Maryland Fried Chicken Recipe
Ingredients
| Egg | 1 , beaten | |
| Milk | 1 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 3/4 cup fine cracker crumbs | ||
| Fryer chicken | 3 Pound | |
| Shortening | 4 Tablespoon | |
Directions
Combine egg and 1/4 cup of the milk.
Mix cracker crumbs with 1/2 teaspoon salt and dash pepper.
Dip chicken pieces into egg mixture; roll in crumbs.
Heat shortening in heavy 12-inch skillet. (Electric skillet 350°.)
Brown the chicken pieces slowly, turning with tongs.
Add remaining 1 cup milk.
Reduce heat (220°); cover tightly and simmer 35 minutes.
Uncover; cook till tender, about 10 minutes more.
From pan drippings, make Cream Gravy.
