Marmalade Squares Recipe

If marmalade squares were to be described in a few words, they are heavenly, superb and outstanding. I will prepare this marmalade squares as dessert for a get-together I am soon going to host. Ingredients

 
2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
 
3/4 cup all purpose flour
 
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
 
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
 
1 teaspoon baking powder
 
1/2 cup(1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
 
1 can (about 14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
 
1 cup orange marmalade
 
1/4 cup lemon juice

Directions

1. Combine oats, flour, nuts, browp sugar and baking powder in a medium-size bowl. Stir in butter or margarine to make a crumbly mixture. Pat two-thirds of the mixture in bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.
2. Combine sweetened condensed milk, marmalade and lemon juice in a small bowl; spread over crumb layer. Sprinkle crumbs on top.
3. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 45 minutes, or until crumbs are golden. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into 24 squares. Refrigerate until serving.
