Classic Marinara Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
| Olive oil | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Onion | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Garlic | 2 Clove (5gm), minced | |
| Italian | 1 Can (10oz) | |
| Tomato sauce | 1 Can (10oz) | |
| Tomato Paste | 1 Can (10oz) | |
| Red wine | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 tablespoon fresh basil or 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil | ||
| Granulated Sugar | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Bay Leaf | 1 | |
| Dried oregano | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
Directions
In a large saucepan heat olive oil over low heat.
Add onion and garlic.
Saute until transparent.
In a blender container puree tomatoes with juice.
Add to onion mixture.
Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, wine, basil, sugar, bay leaf, oregano, salt and pepper; mix well.
Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour.
Discard bay leaf.
Serve hot over pasta.
