Mardi Gras Party Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| 2/3 Cup Nestles Butterscotch Morsels | ||
| Water | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Shortening | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 Cup Buttermilk or Sour Cream | ||
| Flour | 2 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Baking powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 3 Eggs, unbeaten | ||
Directions
Melt morsels in water in pan & cool.
Sift flour with salt, soda and baking powder; set aside.
Cream shortening; add sugar & cream well.
Add eggs, one at a time; beat well after each one.
Add melted morsels.
Mix well.
Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
Turn into 9" pans.
Bake at 375 degrees 35 to 30 min.
Cool.
Spread filling on top of each layer.
