Combine softened cream cheese and sugar, mixing well.
Blend in egg and vanilla.
Reserve 1/2 cup brownie batter; spread remaining batter in bottom of greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
Cover with cream cheese mixture.
Spoon on reserved brownie batter.
Cut through batter with knife several times (this is the marbling).
Sprinkle top with chocolate chips.
Bake at 350Â°F for 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool and cut into squares.
