Marble Spice Cake Recipe

Ingredients
1 c. butter
3 c. sugar
4 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
6 eggs
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. Nutmeg
Directions
Crearti 1/2 cup butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar thor- oughly.
Combine 2 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon bak- ing powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with 1/2 cup milk; add vanilla.
Beat 5 egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into flour mixture.
Combine molasses and soda in saucepan; bring to a boil.
Remove from heat; cool.
Cream remaining butter and sugar thoroughly.
Sift remaining flour, salt, baking powder and spices to- gether.
Add remaining milk alternately with dry in- gredients to creamed mixture; add cooled molasses.
Beat 5 egg yolks and remaining egg until thick and lemony; stir into molasses mixture.
Blend thor- oughly.
Spoon portion of white batter into greased 10-inch tube pap; alternate with dark batter until all batter is used.
Bake at 350 degrees until cake begins to rise.
Increase temperature to 375 degrees.
Bake for about 1 hour longer or until cake tester comes out clean.
Cool on rack.
