Marble Pound Cake Recipe
The taste of this very Marble Pound Cake recipe has played on my mind so much that I hardly ever go for any other Marble Pound Cake recipe. Indulge yourself in this Marble Pound Cake as Dessert. This is an ideal dish to include in today's menu.
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 eggs
2 tablespoons boiling water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1-ounce square unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
Directions
Gradually beat 1 1/4 cups sugar into butter; cream till light and fluffy, 8 to 10 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer.
Beat in milk, peel, and juice.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and 1 1/4 teaspoons salt.
Add to creamed mixture; mix on low speed till smooth, about 2 minutes.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating 1 minute after each.
Beat 1 minute more, scraping sides of bowl frequently.
Combine remaining ingredients; stir into half the batter.
In greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan, alternate spoonfuls of light and dark batters.
With narrow spatula gently stir through batter to marble.
Bake at 300° about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan.
Cool.
Sift powdered sugar atop, if desired.
