Ingredients

 Melted butter1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 1/4 cup soft shortening
 Brown sugar3/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Egg1
 1 teaspoon maple flavouring
 1/2 cups robin hood presifted all purpose flour
 Cream of tartar1/2 Teaspoon
 Baking soda1/2 Teaspoon

Directions

Preheat oven to 350° F. (moderate).
Blend the melted butter, shortening, brown sugar, egg and maple flavouring together.
Measure flour, cream of tartar and soda into a bowl.
Stir thoroughly to blend.
Add the dry ingredients gradually to the butter mixture.
Mix well.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets.
Wet bottom of a glass and press down on cookie.
Repeat with each cookie.
Bake at 350° F. for 8 to 10 minutes.
