Ingredients

 Shortening1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Maple sugar2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted
 Eggs4 , beaten
 Lemon extract1 Teaspoon
 Milk2 Tablespoon
 Cake flour5 Cup (16 tbs)
 Salt2 Teaspoon
 Baking powder5 Teaspoon
 Maple sugar

Directions

Cream shortening and add the sugar which has been rolled for sifting and cream together well.
Add eggs, lemon extract, milk, then part of the flour which has been sifted with salt and baking powder.
Beat well and add remaining dry ingredients.
Drop by teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet.
Flatten with a fork or glass.
Sprinkle with maple sugar.
Bake at 350°F. 12 minutes.
Makes 96 2 inch cookies.
If maple sugar is not available use brown sugar and add 1/2 teaspoon of maple flavoring.
