Ingredients
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
2 cups boiling water
1 1/2 cups lightly packed brown sugar
3 egg whites
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Directions
Thoroughly blend cornstarch and water until smooth in a heavy saucepan.
Add boiling water gradually, stirring constantly.
Mix in the brown sugar.
Bring to boiling, continuing to stir.
Reduce heat and cook 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Beat egg whites until stiff, not dry, peaks are formed.
Pour hot cornstarch mixture gradually over egg whites, beating constantly until blended.
Mix in walnuts.
Spoon into individual molds, cover, and chill.
Unmold.
