Maple Squares Recipe
What a yummy looking recipe for Maple Squares? Best enjoyed as a Dessert this recipe was taught to me by a dear friend who also happens to be a great chef. If you have a lot of Nuts on hand then Maple Squares is the recipe you should opt for. You do not need to be a gourmet to gauge how delicious and flavorful this dish is.
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup maple syrup
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1/2 tsp vanilla or maple extract
3 tbsp flour
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C).
Butter a square 8 inch (20.5 cm) baking pan.
In a bowl, mix flour and 1/2 cup (125 mL) brown sugar.
Press over bottom of pan.
Bake in oven 20 minutes.
In a saucepan, mix 2/3 cup (160 mL) brown sugar and maple syrup.
Bring to a boil.
Simmer 5 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Let cool.
Add eggs.
Fold in remaining ingredients.
Pour over first mixture.
Bake in oven 30 minutes.
Let cool.
Cut into squares or use a cookie cutter.
