Maple Date Nut Bread Recipe
Ingredients
| Boiling water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Dates | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| 1/2 cup maple or brown sugar | ||
| Cake flour | 1 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1 cup whole-wheat flour | ||
| Melted butter | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Nuts | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Maple syrup | 2 Tablespoon | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
MAKING
2. In a bowl, place dates, pour boiling water in it and allow to cool. Add sugar and eggs.
3. Sieve in cake flour with baking soda, baking powder and salt. Mix with wheat flour and add to dates mixture. Fold butter and nuts into flour mixture and mix to just blend.
4. Take a 9 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 2 3/4 inch loaf pan, grease well and pour the flour mixture into it and bake for 50 to 60 minutes.
5. Take out from pan and brush the top immediately with maple syrup.
SERVING
6. Slice and serve.
