Maple Baked Fresh Ham With Raisin Sauce Recipe
Maple baked fresh ham with raisin sauce is a flavorful and savory pork recipe. Spiced with ginger, nutmeg, cloves and allspice, this savory ham roast is cooked with the maple syrup and great for occasions.
Ingredients
1 (5 to 7 pound) pork leg half (fresh ham)
14 to 16 whole cloves
1 cup maple flavored syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
Raisin Sauce
Directions
Score fat on ham in a diamond design, and stud with cloves.
Place ham, fat side up, on a rack in a roasting pan.
Insert meat thermometer, making sure it does not touch fat or bone.
Combine syrup, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice; stir well, and pour over ham.
Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 2 to 3 hours or until meat thermometer registers 160° (25 to 30 minutes per pound).
Baste ham with drippings every 20 to 30 minutes.
If ham browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
