 Pea beans1 Pound, dried
 Water2 Quart

 Maple-flavored syrup - 1/2 cup

 Ground cinnamon1 Teaspoon
 Apples2 , cored

Directions

GETTING READY
1 Sort and rinse beans.
2 In a deep 4-quart casserole with lid, combine beans and 2 quarts water.
3 Stir in baking soda. Cover and let stand overnight.

MAKING
4 Drain and rinse beans.
5 Return beans to the casserole.
6 Add 6 cups water and salt.
7 Cover and microwave at 100% (HIGH) for 18 to 20 minutes or until boiling. Stir.
8 Cover and microwave at 30% (MEDIUM LOW) for 60 to 70 minutes or until beans are tender; stir every 20 minutes.
9 Drain, reserving the liquid.
10 Stir bacon, brown sugar, maple-flavored syrup, onion, Worcestershire sauce and cinnamon into the beans.
11 Add 1 cup reserved cooking liquid; reserve remaining liquid. Cover.
12 Microwave at 30% (MEDIUM LOW) for 80 to 90 minutes or until beans are very tender and flavors blend; stir every 20 minutes.
13 Add more reserved cooking liquid, if necessary.
14 Top with a ring of apple slices. Cover.
15 Microwave at 30% (MEDIUM LOW) for 15 to 20 minutes or until apples are tender; give dish a half turn after 10 minutes.

SERVING
16 Serve hot.
