| 3 slices bacon, finely diced | ||

| Celery | 1 Cup (16 tbs), diced | |

| Canned tomatoes | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |

| 1 Ige. can minced clams | ||
| Flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Butter | 2 Tablespoon | |
Directions
Fry bacon in Dutch oven until golden brown.
Add 4 cups boiling water; simmer for 5 minutes.
Add salt, onions and celery.
Simmer for 20 minutes.
Add potatoes, tomatoes and pepper.
Simmer for 20 minutes longer.
Add clams and juice.
Cook for 10 minutes.
Combine flour and butter, blending well.
Stir into small amount of chowder mixture.
Return flour mixture to Dutch oven, stirring constantly, until chowder is thickened.
Simmer for several minutes before serving.
