Mandarin Salad Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 can mandarin orange sections | ||
| 1 small can lychees in syrup | ||
| 4-5 lettuce leaves (or Chinese cabbage, if available) | ||
| Salad oil | 5 Tablespoon | |
| Vinegar | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Sesame seeds | 1 Tablespoon, toasted | |
| Soy sauce | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Monosodium glutamate | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Dry mustard | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 1 cup thin matchstick bamboo shoots | ||
| Shallots | 3 , chopped | |
| Water chestnuts | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | To Taste | |
Directions
MAKING
1. From oranges and lychees drain syrup and keep aside.
2. Into a bowl add the lettuce leaves after shredding coarsely, cover and let it chill.
3. In a bowl or a container combine oil, vinegar, sesame seeds, soy sauce, sugar, monosodium glutamate, mustard, salt and pepper.
4. Add bamboo shoots, shallots and water chestnuts and marinate for 1 hour.
SERVING
5. To serve mix in the oranges, lychees and lettuce, toss lightly.
