Mahogany Cake Recipe

 Sugar11/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Baking powder1 Teaspoon
 Salt3/4 Teaspoon
 Soda1/2 Teaspoon
 Emulsifier type shortening- 1/2 cup
 Buttermilk1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Vanilla1 Teaspoon
 Eggs2 Small
 Chocolate2 Ounce
 Red food coloring1/2 Teaspoon
 Nuts1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped

Directions

GETTING READY
1.Start by preheating the oven to 350F degrees
MAKING
2.In a bowl, sift dry ingredients together
3.Then add shortening, buttermilk and vanilla; beat 300 strokes with a spoon, or 2 minutes with electric mixer at medium speed, until well blended
4.Last, add eggs, chocolate and food coloring; beat 2 minutes more; fold in chopped nuts.
5.Turn into greased and lined 11x7x1 1/2 inch pan
6.Finally bake in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes

7.Serve with ice cream
