Macaroni and Cheese commonly know as 'mac and Cheese'. Its been served in italy since medieval age. However there is record for this dish in English cook books in 14th century.

Recipe Story

I love to make this dish. its so simple and easy to make. Also all the ingredient required to make it are readily available, no doubt it is such a common dish since 14th century. The best part is you can make variety of variations using the basic recipe, like add can use white sauce or mornay sauce to make it, you can add chicken, bacon or prawns etc.

Ingredients

 Macaroni2 Cup (16 tbs), uncooked
 Milk2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Cheddar Cheese1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), grated
 Egg1 , beaten
 Water- as required
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Oil1 Tablespoon
 Parsley1 Teaspoon, finely chopped

Directions

GETTING READY
1) Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2) Lightly butter the bottom of a casserole dish.
3) In a pot, bring salted water to a boil along with oil.
4) Add the macaroni and let it boil until macaroni is just cooked(al dente).
5) Drain the water and allow it to cool.

MAKING
6) In a bowl, whisk together egg and milk until well combined and fluffy.
7) In a casserole dish, make layers of macaroni and cheese.
8) Spoon the milk mixture spreading evenly over the cheese layers.
9) Cover and bake in the oven for 40 minutes.

SERVING
10) Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot.

TIPS
Can add chicken, bacon or vegetables as desired.
