Loucoumades (Greek Dessert) Recipe

Ingredients
1/2-oz. fresh yeast, or
1 slightly roundedtspn, dried yeast
8 oz. plain flour pinch salt
1/2pint warm water oil for frying
ground cinnamon
Syrup:
12 tblspns, honey
1/4-pint water
juice of 1 lemon
Directions
Dissolve the yeast in a basin with a little of the warm water.
Add 2 tblspns, of the flour.
Mix well and leave in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Add the remainder of the flour, salt and enough warm water to make a thick batter.
Cover and let stand in a warm place for about 2 hours.
Fry small spoonsful of the batter in deep oil.
When golden all over, drain on greaseproof paper.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and pour over the warm syrup.
To make the syrup: Melt all ingredients in a saucepan, but do not boil.
