Loco Moco is found at just about any fast food joint, roadside diner, café, and restaurant or lunch wagon in the Hawaiian Islands. It is truly unique to Hawaii, and it is a comfort food, or "local grind," Here’s an easy way to make a quick and yummy loco moco, the classic Hawaiian soul food consisting of four components: hamburger patty, rice, egg, and brown gravy. This is a dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast or almost any meal of the day.Comments

I am a mainland caucasian, spent 21 yrs in HI, 15 on the Big Island, married a local , had 4 keiki there so I ate many, many locos yes, I am sure your recipe is quite delicious from a gourmet standpoint but from da kine local it is too haole style. a real local Loco Moco Hawaiian style is Plain white rice in a bowl (from a restaurant-foam) topped with a thinner hamburger pattie (no added veggies, etc) topped with brown gravy ( usually from a can or mix) and one fried egg on top. simple, cheap and very ethnic. Maybe not the healthiest or tastiest to some but good grinds, Brah! Oh, yeah, don't forget the hot sauce!!!
