Ingredients

 
Tuvar Dal - 1/2 cup
 
Lima Beans or Avarekalu- 1 1/2 cups
 
Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
 
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
 
Grated coconut-1/4 cup or desicated
 
Red chillies-5
 
Cinnamon - 1/2 " piece
 
Bengal Gram - 1/4 tsp
 
Tamarind paste - 1/2 tsp
 
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
 
Salt - To Taste
 
For seasoning
 
Oil - 1Tbsp
 
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
 
Curry leaves - 2-3 springs
 
Hing - a pinch

Directions

Dry Roast Coriander seeds,Bengal Gram,jeera,cinnamon till it releases good aroma and keep it aside.In the same pan dry fry red chillies and then dry fry coconut.Allow all the ingrediants to cool and make a paste with a little water.
Pressure Cook toor dal and lima beans along with turmeric for about 4 whistles.when it becomes cool add the grinded paste ,salt and tamarind past to the cooked tuvar dal, lima beans and allow it to come to boil.Take it of the lid.

Now season the gravy with mustard seeds,curry leaves and hing in a 2-Tablespoon of oil.

This gravy goes very well with rice.
