Directions

MAKING

FOR THE LENTIL SOUP
1. In a medium sauce pan, start heating the oil.
2. Drop the red chili flakes and the thyme.
3. Add the minced garlic and give it a stir.
4. Add the chopped onions.
5. Next goes in the sweet potatoes and the carrots and after some time the potatoes and the celery.
6. Cook for sometime before adding the lentils and the water or stock.Take care that the lentils are covered.
7. Simmer for about 45 minutes till the lentils are soft and not mushy.

FOR THE APPLE CRUMBLE
8. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Farenheit.
9. Chop the apples and lay out in a baking dish.
10.In a mixing bowl, mix together flour,oats,cereal,1/2 teaspoon salt, sugar and cinnamon and mix well.
11.Add the butter and mix it in.
12.Loosely spread the above mixture over the apples in an even layer.
13.Bake in the oven for 45 minutes.

FOR THE PITA AND HUMMUS
14.Bake the pita bread in the oven at 375 degrees Farenheit for 10 minutes.
15.Pour the can of garbanzo beans in a blender.
16.Add the garlic, lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of salt,Tahini and the water. Blend well until smooth and creamy.

SERVING
17. Serve the hot lentil soup along side the pita chips with the hummus dip and the apple crumble for a dessert.
