Lentil And Split Peas Recipe
This Lentils and Split Peas are cooked the perfect way. My soups taste different with these impeccably cooked lentils and spilt peas. Just try out this method of cooking lentils and peas to see what I mean. Please come back here and let me know if you agree with me.
Ingredients
1/2 pound lentils (or split peas)
2 cups water
Directions
Step 1.
Wash the beans and cover with water in saucepan.
Let soak for 1 hour.
Bring to boil in same saucepan.
Reduce heat, cover and let simmer for 15 minutes.
Remove lentils or split peas from liquid in saucepan (saving liquid) and weigh them, well drained.
The beans or peas are delicious this way.
Just pep them up with seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic, curry, herbs, rum extract, etc.) and use in the amounts indicated in your Menu Plan.

Step 2.
Making Lentil (Split Pea), Spinach and Frankfurter Soup.
Return 10 ounces of cooked lentils (or split peas) to the saucepan containing the reserved liquid.
Add the following: 2 cups water 2 envelopes instant broth mix 3 tablespoons combined fresh celery leaves and parsley, minced Bring to boil, cover, lower heat and let simmer for 2 hours.
Stir in 1/2 cup frozen spinach, slightly defrosted (or chopped fresh sorrel) Cook for 15 minutes.
Have ready 6 ounces freshly cooked all-beef frankfurters Slice the franks evenly into two large soup bowls.
Pour in well-mixed soup.
