Lentil and Grains Pilaf Recipe
Ingredients
| Water | 3 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Butter/Margarine | 1 Tablespoon | |
| 1 tsp. instant chicken bouillon granules | ||
| Onion | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| 1/3 cup regular brown rice | ||
| Wheat berries | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Savory | 3/4 Teaspoon, crushed | |
| Lentils | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs), drained, rinsed | |
| 2 Tbsp. snipped dried apricots or raisins | ||
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | 1 | |
Directions
1. In a medium saucepan combine the water, margarine or butter, and bouillon granules; heat till margarine is melted. Stir in onion, uncooked brown rice, wheat berries, and savory. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes.
2. Stir the lentils into the mixture in the saucepan. Return to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, about 30 minutes more or till rice, wheat berries, and lentils are tender. Drain off excess liquid. Stir in apricots or raisins. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
