Lemon Jumbles Recipe

Ingredients
4 oz. margarine
8 oz. flour
4 oz. sugar
1 egg
Grated rind of 2 lemons
Lemon juice to mix
Directions
Sieve flour and baking powder together.
Rub in the margarine, add the sugar and lemon rind.
Mix in the egg and enough lemon juice to make a firm dough.
Roll out the dough until it is 1/4 inch thick.
Cut into long strips and make these into bows.
Put on to a lightly greased and floured baking tin.
Bake for 10 minutes near the top of a very hot oven (475°F.€”Gas Mark 8).
Brush top with a thin layer of lemon flavoured water icing, made by mixing 4 tablespoons icing sugar with 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
Put cherries and angelica into centre.
