Add sugar; place over low heat and stir until gelatin and sugar dissolve.
Meanwhile, in a large bowl mix together wine, lemon juice, and liqueur; stir in gelatin mixture.
Spoon 1/2 inch gelatin into a 2-quart glass bowl (cover remaining gelatin and let stand at room temperature).
Arrange about 1 cup of the strawberries in a ring around bowl; garnish with mint, if desired, in this and succeeding layers.
Refrigerate until set.
When set, spoon 1/2 inch gelatin mixture over berries and add a ring of apricots.
Refrigerate until gelled.
Repeat process with a layer of grapes and another layer of strawberries, using up all the gelatin.
Cover and chill until firmly set
