Lasagna - The Tasty Italian Dish Recipe Video

Brr! When the temperature outside drops, all I want to do is cozy up with a hot bowl of soup or chili! Cold weather calls for warm dinners that can be easily made in a crock pot or slow cooker. Chili and stews are great meal options to make this time of year, and I'm going to show you how to make lasagna in the crock pot.

Main Ingredient

Ingredients

Lean ground turkey or beef - 1 pound

Pasta sauce - 1 jar

Water - 1 cup

Ricotta cheese - 2 cups

Shredded cheese - 2 cups

Grated parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, divided

Egg - 1

Fresh chopped parsley -3

tablespoons

Uncooked lasagna noodles

Directions

MAKING
1) Brown meat in large skillet; drain. Stir in pasta sauce and water and let simmer.
2) Mix ricotta, 1-1/2 cups shredded cheese, 3 tablespoons of Parmesan, egg and parsley in a bowl.
3) Spoon 1 cup meat sauce into slow cooker; top with layers of the noodles and cheese mixture. (you can place two noodles side by side on each layer, and you’ll probably have to break them to fit).
4) Cover with 2 cups meat sauce. Top with remaining noodles, cheese mixture and sauce. Cover with lid.
5) Cook on LOW 4 to 6 hours or until liquid is absorbed. Sprinkle with remaining cheeses; let stand, covered, 10 min. or until melted.

SERVING
6) Serve the dish when cheese is completely melted.

TIPS
7) The slow cooker is pretty fast, so this dish is usually done in 4-4.5 hours. Be sure to check on it around that time so the lasagna doesn’t dry out.
