Ingredients

 Mozzarella cheese1 pound, sliced

 Lean ground beef1 pound
 Onion1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 Garlic2 Clove (5gm), minced
 Dried oregano1 Teaspoon, crushed
 Fennel seed1 Teaspoon, crushed

 Egg1 , beaten
 2 cups low-fat cottage cheese
 Low moisture, part skim mozzarella cheese8 Ounce, sliced

Directions

In a large skillet cook meat, onion, and garlic till meat is brown and onion is tender.
Drain off fat.
Stir in the undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and basil.
Bring to boiling; reduce heat.
Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring often.
Meanwhile, cook noodles according to package directions.
Drain.
Stir together eggs, ricotta or cream-style cottage cheese, 1/2 cup of the Parmesan, parsley, and pepper.
In a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish layer half of the noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, half of the mozzarella, and half of the meat sauce.
Repeat layers; sprinkle with remaining Parmesan.
Bake in a 375° oven for 30 to 35 minutes or till heated through.
Let stand for 10 minutes.
