Lamb Ossobuco Recipe
Lamb Ossobuco is a unique and tasty lamb preparation that you shouldn’t miss. This tasty preparation helped me score a few points with my in-laws when they came visiting. Try this Lamb Ossobuco and win over a few hearts!
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 4 lamb shanks (about 3/4 pound each) | ||
| Shortening | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Tomato sauce | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| White wine | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Water | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/2 teaspoon instant beef bouillon | ||
| Carrots | 2 , chopped | |
| Celery stalks | 3 , chopped | |
| 1/8 teaspoon each oregano, thyme, rosemary and basil | ||
Directions
Mix flour, salt and pepper; coat meat with flour mixture.
Melt shortening in large skillet or Dutch oven; brown meat over medium heat, turning occasionally.
Drain off fat.
Reduce heat; stir in remaining ingredients.
Cover tightly; simmer 2 hours or until meat is tender.
If you like, thicken broth.
Nice with lettuce wedges, Skillet Pilaf and French bread.
