Korean Barbecue Ribs Recipe Video
Korean ribs are a popular for their exotic taste. Tamar reveals the "secret ingredient" to sweet, juicy, tender Korean style ribs – pear juice. You can cook up your Korean ribs recipe at home now armed with this information. To get started here is the Korean recipe for beef ribs or kalbi.
Ingredients
3 lbs. lean beef ribs with the bone or 2 ½ lbs. boneless ribs, trimmed, (Korean ribs have the ‘flanken’ cut- ¼ inch thick)
1 Korean pear, peeled and grated (called apple pear in the US)
½ cup soy sauce
½ cup rice wine (soju or sake)
3 tbsp sugar
2-3 green onions, chopped or 2 tbsp dried chives
5 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp sesame seed oil
2 tbsp toasted sesame seed
Salt
1 tbsp ground black pepper
1 inch of freshly grated ginger (optional)
Directions
Toss the marinade ingredients together and marinate the ribs for at least an hour.
Grill or broil them 6 inches away from heat source after spraying pan with vegetable cooking spray.
Cook for 5-6 minutes on one side.
Turn.
Cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.
Serve hot.

I haven't had these ribs since Jr.High at a Korean friends home. They were so awesome I over ate and made myself sick. Tonight my wife and I
are going to try to replicate this experience, (minus the getting sick) so she can know just how good Korean beef is. In looking into recipes they all seemed to be variations on a theme, but after seeing yours which includes the Asian pear and its history I could not go with any other preparation for our first effort. Thanks for the info. We'll rate it after tonight.
