Ingredients

 
2 cups large prawns, deveined and salted
 
300 gms. punjabi paneer
 
1/2 bunch fresh coriander
 
2 large onions, chopped finely
 
2 tablespoons green chillies, finely chopped
 
1/2 cup butter
 
1/4 teaspoon ajma seeds or oregano
 
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
 
1/2 teaspoon carraway seeds
 
2 teaspoons chilli powder
 
1/2 cup tomato pulp
 
2 sprigs curry leaves
 
7 peppercorns coarsely ground salt to taste
 
3 tablespoons butter

Directions

1. Heat three tablespoons butter in a heavy bottomed pan. Add the chopped onions and cook until soft. Add the curry leaves, carraway, ajma, mustard seeds and allow them to pop. Quickly toss in the powdered spices, green chillies, finely pulped tomatoes and prawns. Turn the heat low and allow to simmer for 15-20 minutes adding half a cup water if necessary till the prawns are tender. Add the chopped coriander.
2. Cut the paneer into bite size cubes. Heat a frying pan half full with oil. When the oil is hot gently slide in the paneer cubes in two batches. Remove with a slotted spoon when golden brown and immediately put it in the cooked prawn mixture. Stir well.
3. Place the prawn and paneer mixture onto a heated dish and serve immediately with hot rotlis or yellow rice.
