Ingredients
Whole moong dal-1/2 cup, pre-soaked
Water -2 1/2 cups
Salt- to taste
Turmeric powder -1/2 teaspoon
Green ginger -1/2 teaspoon, grated
Garlic -4 cloves
Tomatoes-1/2 pound, sliced
Garam masala-1/2 teaspoon
Ghee-1/4 cup
Onion-1 small, chopped
White cumin seeds -1/2 teaspoon
Green chili-1 small, chopped
Directions
MAKING
1)In a saucepan, add moong dal and water. Bring it to a boil.
2)Add the salt, turmeric, ginger and garlic and cook for 30 minutes on medium heat.
3)Add tomato and garam masala and cook for 10 minutes.
4)Take a small frying pan and heat ghee in it, add cumin seeds and let it splutter.
5)Saute onions in it until golden, then add chili.
6)Pour it over the dal and boil for a minute.
SERVING
7)Serve moong dal with chapatti or rice.
