Ingredients
| Arhar dal | 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs) (Tovar) | |
| Raw mango | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Green chilies | 2 , chopped | |
| Turmeric powder | 1⁄2 Teaspoon (Haldi) | |
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Water | 4 Cup (64 tbs) | |
| Ghee | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Jeera | 1 Teaspoon (Cumin Seeds) | |
| Whole kashmiri dry red chili | 1 | |
| Asafoetida | 1⁄4 Teaspoon (Hing) |
Directions
GETTING READY
1 Wash the dal well.
2 Drain.
MAKING
3 In a pressure cooker, add the dal along with raw mango, green chilies, turmeric powder, salt and 4 cups of water.
4 Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles, until the dal is done.
5 In a small pan, heat the ghee.
6 Add the cumin seeds.
7 When they begin to crackle, add the asafoetida and the red chili.
8 Pour this tempering on the dal immediately.
SERVING
9 Serve hot with steamed rice and papad.
