Ingredients

 Arhar dal1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs) (Tovar)
 Raw mango1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 Green chilies2 , chopped
 Turmeric powder1⁄2 Teaspoon (Haldi)
 Salt To Taste
 Water4 Cup (64 tbs)
 Ghee1 Tablespoon
 Jeera1 Teaspoon (Cumin Seeds)
 Whole kashmiri dry red chili1
 Asafoetida1⁄4 Teaspoon (Hing)

Directions

GETTING READY
1 Wash the dal well.
2 Drain.

MAKING
3 In a pressure cooker, add the dal along with raw mango, green chilies, turmeric powder, salt and 4 cups of water.
4 Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles, until the dal is done.
5 In a small pan, heat the ghee.
6 Add the cumin seeds.
7 When they begin to crackle, add the asafoetida and the red chili.
8 Pour this tempering on the dal immediately.

SERVING
9 Serve hot with steamed rice and papad.
