Johnnycake Recipe
Johnnycake is a unique and winning pancake. I make this quiet often at home. Try this delicious Johnnycake recipe at your home this week itself!
Ingredients
1 cup yellow or white cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/4 cup milk
Margarine and oil for frying
Directions
Put cornmeal, salt, and sugar into a mixing bowl.
Heat water and 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan.
Bring to rolling boil.
Slowly pour this hot liquid into cornmeal, stirring constantly.
When all liquid has been absorbed, add milk.
This will be a thick batter.
Heat margarine and oil in skillet-enough to cover entire cooking surface gen erously.
Drop batter by tablespoons into skil let, to form 4 inch cakes.
Cook until golden brown, then turn to brown the other side Serve at once with maple syrup.
