Ingredients

 Hot water2 Tablespoon
 Rum3 Tablespoon
 Soda1/2 Teaspoon
 1/4 cup dark molasses
 Oil1/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Honey1/2 Cup (16 tbs), warmed
 Whole wheat pastry flour2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Salt1/2 Teaspoon
 Ground ginger1 Teaspoon
 Ground cloves1/8 Teaspoon
 Ground nutmeg1/8 Teaspoon
 Dash of allspice

Directions

In a large bowl, combine water, rum, soda, molasses, oil, and honey.
Mix flour, salt, and spices and add to the batter.
Mix thoroughly.
Chill the dough.
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375° F.and grease two cookie sheets.
Drop five mounds of dough onto each cookie sheet, leaving 3 or 4 inches between each mound.
With the floured bottom of a glass, press each mound into a 4-inch circle about 1/4 inch thick.
Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes.
