Jar Won-Ton (Fried Sweet Won Ton) Recipe
Ingredients
20 won-ton wrapper
1/4 kg. dates, without pits, washed, boiled and mashed
1/2 cup almonds, cashewnuts and walnuts
1 tbsp. orange juice
1 tbsp. lemon rind, finely grated
1cup oil
Icing sugar for dusting
Directions
Crush nuts well.
Combine together with mashed dates, lemon rind and orange juice.
Mix well and make a smooth dough.
Make the date mixture into small cylinders, about as thick as your little finger and half as long.
Keep the rolls on a kitchen paper.
Place the won-ton wrappers on a board.
Put a roll of date mixture on each square of won-ton wrapper, placing it diagonally.
Pick up corner of pastry and place it over the filling, ruckling point under.
Roll up the won ton into a tube and then twist the ends of the tube.
Heat oil in a wok, fry few won-ton at a time, over medium heat, turning them until they are golden brown.
Lift them out with a slotted spoon and drain on absorbent paper.
When cool, sprinkle icing sugar and serve.
