Recipe Story

Being a foodie, how could I miss a trip to Jama Masjid on my recent vacation to India? Such is the food there that even the locals look for an excuse to indulge. So along with my huge Indian family, one fine evening (Note: the best food is on offer is only after the evening prayers), I visited Jama Masjid. Off all the yummy food, I was particulary bowled over by this coal grilled chicken which was served with oodles of butter. Once back home all I would think of is the butter dipped chicken which I just couldn't get out of my mind. I collected images of the chicken being prepared (yes, its made right in front of you) and came up with my own Jama Masjid Style Chicken. This is a 95% match of the dish, I am not saying 100% simply because the chicken is not charcoal grilled.

Ingredients

 Whole chicken1 Kilogram
 Turmeric powder1 Teaspoon
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Red Chili powder1 Teaspoon
 Yoghurt3/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Butter100 Gram
 Chaat masala1 Tablespoon

Directions

GETTING READY
1) Wash the chicken and marinade it with turmeric powder, salt and chilli powder.
2) In a bowl place the chicken. Wrap and refrigerate for atleast 4 hours.

MAKING
3)In a non-stick pan, place the chicken and cook on all sides over medium heat till the chicken is no more raw inside. Now, I wish a charcoal grill was as handy as a non-stick pan, I would have achieved 100% success :-(. But, if grilling the chicken over charcoal is possible for you please dont choose any other cooking option.
4)In another pan, melt the butter while the chicken is cooking.
5) Once the chicken is cooked transfer it to a deep bowl.
6) Immediately pour the melted butter, add the youghrt and sprinkle chaat masala over the chicken. Toss well.

SERVING
7) Transfer to a serving dish and serve the chicken, pronto.
