Directions
Heat water, broth, or wine in a large, heavy pot over medium heat.
Add onion and garlic.
Cook and stir for 5 minutes.
Add string beans.
Cook and stir for 5 minutes, adding liquid if necessary.
Add tomatoes, jalapeno, water, vinegar, and pepper.
Cover pot and simmer for 15 minutes or until beans are tender.
