Italian Style Liver And Onions Recipe
Ingredients
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon plain dried bread crumbs
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Dash each salt and pepper
10 ounces chicken livers, cut into chunks
3 tablespoons buttermilk
2 teaspoons margarine
1 cup sliced onions
Directions
In shallow dish combine bread crumbs, cheese, parsley, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; dip liver, 1 piece at a time, into milk, then into crumb mixture, being sure to use all of milk and crumb mixture.
Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray; transfer liver to sheet and bake at 350°F. until lightly browned, 15 to 20 minutes.
While liver is baking, in 9-inch nonstick skillet heat margarine until bubbly and hot; add onions and saute until golden.
Serve with breaded liver.
