Ingredients
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 pounds ground sirloin
1 tablespoon paprika
1 Spanish onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 teaspoon dry mustard
5 pinches of oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
3 tablespoons flour
1 (29 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
1 (4 ounce) can mushroom pieces, drained
1 green bell pepper, sliced, including seeds
2 bay leaves
2 cups water
Directions
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium heat.
Brown the ground sirloin in the oil, stirring until crumbly; drain.
Stir in the paprika, onion, garlic, mustard, oregano, salt, pepper and tomato paste.
Cook over medium heat until onion is tender-crisp.
Stir in the flour, undrained tomatoes, mushrooms, bell pepper, bay leaves and water.
Simmer, uncovered, for 3 hours.
Salt to taste.
