Italian Green Peppers Recipe

I got to try out this Italian Green Peppers at my friend's place. My GOD, It was simply mind blowing! The famous Italian Italian Green Peppers which is served as Side Dish, is sure to please everyone. The Italian Green Peppers is made with Vegetable which is easy to procure from any grocery store. Ingredients

 
1/2 cup sliced onion
 
2 cloves garlic, minced
 
2 tablespoons cooking oil
 
1 (16 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
 
2 teaspoons sugar
 
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
 
1/4 teaspoon pepper
 
1/2 teaspoon oregano or basil
 
5 large green peppers, cut into 3/4- to 1-inch strips
 
1 1/2 quarts boiling water

Directions

Saute onion and garlic in oil until yellow.
Add tomatoes and seasonings.
Cut up and blend tomato mixture.
Simmer sauce, uncovered, for about 20 minutes or until slightly thickened.
Parboil green pepper strips, uncovered, about 15 minutes.
Drain; combine with tomato mixture in skillet.
Continue cooking, uncovered, about 15 minutes or until peppers are tender.
