Ingredients
2 lbs. mutton
2 teaspoonfuls salt
6 medium potatoes
1/4 teaspoonful pepper
6 medium carrots
2 teaspoonfuls sugar
6 small onions
3 teaspoonfuls Dark Caramel
1 small yellow turnip, cubed
3 sprigs parsley
Flour to thicken
Directions
Cut mutton in inch cubes, add cold water to cover, measuring it, and bring to a boil.
Add potatoes cut in eighths, carrots cut in strips, small whole onions, the turnip cubed, parsley, salt, pepper, sugar, and dark caramel.
Cover closely and simmer slowly for 2 hrs. or until meat is tender.
For each cup of water stir in 1 tbsp of flour mixed smoothly with an equal quantity of cold water and stir gently until it boils.
Then cook slowly for about 10 min.
