Individual Baked Alaska Recipe
The Individual Baked Alaskas is a yummy treat!. This is a surprise treat that I often prepare at home. Try it at your place too, I am sure you will like the Individual Baked Alaskas!
Ingredients
2 pints vanilla or other ice cream
4 egg whites, at room temperature
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup sugar
6 baker's or packaged dessert shells
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 500°F. Place ice cream in refrigerator to soften slightly. Meanwhile, in small bowl, with mixer at high speed, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form; beat in sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating until sugar completely dissolves and whites stand in stiff, glossy peaks.
2. Place dessert shells on chilled cookie sheet. Scoop a ball of ice cream on top of each shell. Quickly spread each with meringue to cover right down to cookie sheet. Bake 3 minutes or until meringue is lightly browned. Transfer dessert to chilled plates.
