Ingredients
| Olive oil | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Large onions-2,chopped | ||
| Cumin | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Yellow peas | 3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Water or stock-12 cups | ||
| Turmeric | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Tomatoes | 2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Parsley | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), dried | |
| Dried chillies-2, de-seeded,stems removed and crumbled | ||
| Basmati rice | 2 | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1 To taste | |
Directions
MAKING
1.Take a soup kettle, add oil and heat it over medium heat.
2.Add the chopped onion and saute till transparent.
3.Now add the cumin, and saute till it until it splutters and releases it's fragrance.
4.Add the split peas,water and turmeric and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer on gentle heat for an hour.
5.Add the tomatoes,parsley,chillies,rice and salt and cover cook for another 15 minutes.
6.Add the pepper once done.
SERVING
7.Serve hot with rice.
