Indian Molasses Pudding Recipe
Ingredients
| Yellow cornmeal | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/2 cup black molasses | ||
| Sugar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Butter | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Baking soda | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Eggs | 2 | |
| 6 cups hot milk | ||
| Vanilla ice cream | ||
Directions
Mix the commeal with the molasses, sugar, butter, salt, baking soda, and eggs.
Add 3 cups of hot rnilk, stirring carefully.
Place in a 2 quart bean pot or other covered pot, and bake in a 400° oven until all comes to a boil.
Then stir in another 3 cups of hot milk, and bake at 275° for 4 to 6 hours, or until all is absorbed.
Stir every half hour.
