Ingredients

1 cup water

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1 cup sifted flour

4 large eggs

1 1/2 qts. coffee ice cream

2 cups confectioners sugar

1/2 cup chocolate syrup

Directions

Bring 1 cup water and 1/2 cup butter or margarine to a boil.
Add 1 cup sifted flour all at once and beat until mixture leaves the sides of the saucepan.
Remove from heat and beat in 4 large eggs, 1 at a time.
Beat very well after adding each egg, continuing to beat until dough is shiny.
Drop dough by tablespoons on to an ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart to make 12 puffs.
Bake 45 to 50 minutes at 400°, or until golden brown.
Cool puffs on wire rack (away from draughts).
Split cooled cream puffs in half, removing any soft dough from center.
Fill each with 1/2 cup coffee ice cream (from 1 1/2 qts.).
Combine 2 cups confectioners sugar and 1/2 cup chocolate syrup and spoon a little of this glaze over each prepared cream puff.
Serve at once.
Note:
If you're in a rush, buy cream puff shells at your local bakery, but think of the delight of making your own!
Butterscotch, fudge or nesselrode ice cream topping are excellent alternates for glazing these puffs.
For a change, heat the toppings and pour over this dessert just before serving.
