Hungarian Goulash Recipe
This Hungarian Goulash will make your taste buds crave for more! The Hungarian Goulash is one of the most popular creations of the Canadian Cuisine. Best enjoyed as a Side Dish this recipe was taught to me by a dear friend who also happens to be a great chef. You must try this recipe.
Ingredients
2 pounds stewing beef
1 tablespoon bacon drippings or fat
5 tablespoons flour
1 small onion, peeled and sliced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3 1/2 cups hot water
1 /2 cup sour cream
Directions
Cut meat into neat 1-inch cubes.
Melt fat in heavy skillet.
Brown meat cubes on all sides; sprinkle with flour, and stir again to brown further.
Add onion, Worcestershire sauce and dry seasonings.
Add hot water, and continue stirring.
Reduce heat, cover tightly and simmer until meat is very tenderâ€â€about 2 hours.
Stir in sour cream just before serving.
Drained boiled noodles are a traditional accompaniment with the spicy goulash
