Hunan Sweet And Sour Meat Recipe
Simply yummy!!!! These two words come to the mind instantly when you taste this Hunan Sweet And Sour Meat. It is a Chinese delicacy, served as Side Dish. Trust me and whip this dish now.
Ingredients
1/2 kg. lean meat cut into 1" cubes
2 slices pineapple cut into 1" cubes
1 onion quartered
2 carrots quartered
2 capsicums deseeded and quartered
2 cloves garlic crushed
1 egg beaten
2 tbsps. bamboo shoot, minced
2 tbsps. cornflour
2 tbsps. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
2 cups sweet arid sour sauce
Oil for frying
Directions
Parboil meat cubes with little salt.
Drain well.
Place cooked meat in a bowl.
Sprinkle salt, pepper and mix.
Mix in a bowl, flour, cornflour, beaten egg and pour over the meat cubes and rub thoroughly, each piece should be coated well.
Fry meat pieces, few at a time in oil, until colour turns golden brown.
Remove, drain well and keep on a kitchen paper.
Discard excess oil.
Saute onion and crushed garlic for 2 minutes, and add bamboo shoots, vegetables and pineapple.
Saute for 5 minutes.
Add meat pieces.
Stir in sweet and sour sauce, mix well and simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from fire.
Serve hot with rice or noodles.
VEGETARIAN VERSION:
Replace meat cubes by boiled, washed and dried soya nuggets or cubed vegetarian ham.
Add 1/2 cup quartered celery and follow the recipe as given above.
