Hunan Sweet And Sour Meat Recipe
Ingredients
| 1/2 kg. lean meat cut into 1" cubes | ||
| Pineapple slice | 2 | |
| Onion | 1 , quartered | |
| Carrots | 2 , quartered | |
| 2 capsicums deseeded and quartered | ||
| Garlic | 2 Clove (5gm), crushed | |
| Egg | 1 , beaten | |
| Bamboo shoot | 2 Tablespoon, minced | |
| Cornflour | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Flour | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ground black pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 2 cups sweet arid sour sauce | ||
| Frying Oil | 2 Cup (16 tbs) (For frying) | |
Directions
Parboil meat cubes with little salt.
Drain well.
Place cooked meat in a bowl.
Sprinkle salt, pepper and mix.
Mix in a bowl, flour, cornflour, beaten egg and pour over the meat cubes and rub thoroughly, each piece should be coated well.
Fry meat pieces, few at a time in oil, until colour turns golden brown.
Remove, drain well and keep on a kitchen paper.
Discard excess oil.
Saute onion and crushed garlic for 2 minutes, and add bamboo shoots, vegetables and pineapple.
Saute for 5 minutes.
Add meat pieces.
Stir in sweet and sour sauce, mix well and simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from fire.
Serve hot with rice or noodles.
VEGETARIAN VERSION:
Replace meat cubes by boiled, washed and dried soya nuggets or cubed vegetarian ham.
Add 1/2 cup quartered celery and follow the recipe as given above.
