Recipe Story

The tandoor is a clay oven which is used a lot in indian cooking for making breads or roasting various types of meat and vegetables. The Roti (flat what bread eaten in India and Pakistan) can be cooked on a heating pan at home or in a tandoor which adds a punch to it. To make a roti, one needs a tandoor that has been heated to 900 degrees!

Ingredients

 
1. Wheat flour as desired
 
2. Some water

Directions

1. Mix the flour and water
2. Knead the flour into a dough
3. Roll a bit of dough into a ball
4. Use a roller to flat then dough
5. Place in tandoor (stick it on side wall)
6. Turn to cook other side after a 1 minute
7. Roti is ready to eat - add some butter to make it tastier

This tandoori roti looks wonderful. We all just love it at my place, thks for explaining the entire process in this wonderful step by step guide. Have a gas tandoor and guess that would work out as a substitute to the traditional tandoor. I make tandoori chicken in this gas tandoor. I would love to try this and make it at home bcoz everytime we want to have the tandoori roti or the naan we have to make a trip to the local restaurant.
