Hot Mulled Wine Recipe

Ingredients

 Water1 Quart
 Angostura bitters1⁄4 Teaspoon
 Whole cloves8
 Whole allspice1 Teaspoon
 Powdered nutmeg1⁄2 Teaspoon
 Powdered ginger1⁄2 Teaspoon
 Cinnamon2 Inch (2 1" sticks)
 Sugar1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
 Raisins1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
 Blanched almonds1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
 Dry red table wine2 Bottle (2 l)

Directions

Combine all ingredients except wine and optional cinnamon sticks in large saucepan.
Bring to a boil, turn down heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes.
Strain.
Put liquid back in pan and bring back to boiling.
Stir in wine and bring slowly back to just below the boiling point.
Do not boil.
Pour into a punch bowl that has been heated with hot water.
Serve in mugs with cinnamon stick muddlers.
